This area of northern Arizona has some of the most fascinating landscapes I’ve ever seen. Getting there is half the adventure; high clearance 4WD is strongly recommended to make it through the deep sandy trails. On this evening I had to really race down those narrow sandy trails in my 4Runner to make it in time for sunset, and this was my reward. I woke up to snow the next morning (unfortunately, overcast skies didn’t let me take advantage of the snow).
