Here’s a wide-angle shot of the Strawberry Moon last night after it had risen above the red haze you see low on the horizon. As an aside, it’s incredible to see how much more noise I get on an ISO1600 shot when it’s 100-degrees outside. It was almost as noisy as an ISO6400 shot in colder temperatures.

A rising moon’s rays illuminate a foggy Lost Lake as the moon clears the trees of the Mt Hood National Forest.

I took this photo in early April before the road up to the lake was completely open. The lake was incredibly still, and the night had some great Milky Way shooting.

Technical details:

This is a four-frame panorama cropped to a standard 2:3 ratio, since the tangle of roots at the bottom of the final pano didn’t do much for me.

“Speed Up and Fly to the Moon”

39 long exposure shots, 90mins of shooting, one big moment.
Part of my series “Astrophysics”.

It’s been over 4months since I’ve posted my last fresh image.
I’ve been busy shooting portraits and events, but time’s come to return to landscape and long exposure photography. Here’s the result.

3 hours of work within Lightroom and Photoshop. I think it paid out.
Prints will be available soon.

This was taken earlier this year as dawn light was starting to heat up but also as clouds rapidly started to fade away! Don’t you love those moments in the field where you’re giving a pep talk to nature to ‘hang in’ there for the critical moments of light lol. Fortunately there was noone around to hear me muttering and doing my cloud dance while wading in the lake.
